The Panjimites Welfare Society, Alto de Guimaraes, Panaji, organised a mega Konkani musical evening at Azad Maidan recently in view of having completed 154 years of dedicated service to the society.
During the opening of the show, the chairman Mr Adriano Godinho observed one minute silent for the martyrs who lost their lives during the recent terror attacks in Mumbai and also as a sign of respect to the Goan, Mr Boris Rego who lost his life in these attacks.
Ms Victoria Fernandes, MLA, St Cruz Constituency and chairperson of MPDA, Vasco-da- Gama was chief guest and Mr Tony Dias, assistant commissioner, Customs and Central Excise, Panaji was guest of honour.
Ms Victoria Fernandes released the folder of the Panjimites Welfare Society. She appreciated chairman, Mr Adriano C Godinho and members of the society for putting up the mega show. Ms Victoria Fernandes expressed happiness that the society completed 154 years and said that it shows that society is united. She also said that she will be ready to help the society anytime they are in need.
Mr Tony Dias, assistant commissioner, Customs and Central Excise, Panaji expressed in his appreciation towards Goan artists and said that such programme would lead to encourage Goans to show their talents.
The Panjimites Welfare Society, Alto de Guimaraes, Panaji will be organising sports meet for the street children and the family members of the society on December 26 at Alto de Guimaraes,
Panaji. Milmix Sharon, Mil Mel Nel, Amir Shaikh, Mario Menezes and others entertained the audience throughout the show. Earlier, chairman, Mr Adriano C Godinho welcomed the guest and audience and later vice-president, Ms Berneen Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
